Following the earthquake that for the second time has hit the provinces of Emilia, Northern Italy, the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy (FCEI) expressed its solidarity and closeness to the people so seriously damaged and in particular to the families who have lost their relatives.
Pastor Massimo Aquilante, FCEI’s president, declared: “FCEI opens a subscription to support specific projects mainly aimed to follow most needy people in cooperation with local churches, associations, organizations and public authorities. Our hope is in the God of Jesus Christ, solid rock and safe refuge in adversity, source of every hope and relief”.
17 people have lost their lives in the quake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter scale, which on May 29 at 9.00 a.m. has hit the area, a few days after the one occurred on May 20. The number of homeless is about 14.000 in the whole, while injured people are about 350. The ground doesn’t cease to tremble: hundreds of settling shocks registered.
